The Greatest Benefits of Sexual Retention

The Greatest Benefits of Sexual Retention

Why should one practice sexual abstinence or semen retention? The pleasures of the other side of the issue are clear: instant gratification of the senses; sexual pleasure. But those of us who’ve stepped into the path of abstinence from the way of hedonism know all too well the downsides of that lifestyle. The instant loss of energy and the enjoyment that is sucked away from everyday activities have most likely become way too real for us. Overdoing anything isn’t good — there’s always a price to pay.

The Law of Ascetism

It has been known for eons that abstaining from the pleasures of life leads to a more enjoyable life in general and physical and spiritual benefits as well. The yogis of India knew it. The philosophers of ancient Greece knew it. The Stoics talked about abstaining from vices as one of the core tenets of their philosophy. All religions in the world that ever existed have talked about it. Our society has veered away from traditional and religious values, but living a chaste life and dying as a virgin wasn’t all that uncommon in the past. Not to say there wasn’t debauchery and degeneration in the past, but there definitely wasn’t internet pornography either. So let’s talk about the benefits.

You Will Get Stronger

When measured in a lab, the small teaspoon of sperm that one ejaculation essentially contains doesn’t contain much in it: some trace minerals such as zinc that can easily be replenished in one meal or a multivitamin tablet, some cholesterol, and a micro amount of fat and protein. Skeptics love to quote this. But the body uses lots of energy to form all of this. Also, the act of sex and orgasm itself isn’t something that comes for free. The hormonal load of excess dopamine and other hormones such as prolactin also has an effect on the body. The cocktail of hormones that is produced during an orgasm signals the body that the main job of its existence is now completed; reproduction has succeeded, and it’s time to rest and re-cuperate. So, naturally, if one abstains from this activity, the opposite is true — the body goes hungry. The signal now is: become stronger and more attractive so you may pass on your genes. The production of other hormones, such as testosterone, will ramp up. Testosterone promotes muscle building, bone density, and recovery from stress.

The body isn’t stupid. Abstaining gives it energy and resources it can focus on other things

You Will Become More Attractive

The body isn’t stupid. Abstaining gives it energy and resources it can focus on other things, and it won’t just throw them away — they will be used wisely. The body would very much like to reproduce, so some of those resources will naturally be spent to make you more attractive, whether that’s your personal goal or not. Small improvements will happen: better skin and clearer eyes; shinier hair; and sex-related characteristics will improve, such as a wider jaw and shoulders in males. The voice might deepen. Even pheromones that signal fertility will be released.

Your Senses Will Improve

In the same line of though, survival and the passing of genes, the senses will grow keener. Just as fasting from food will improve your smell, fasting from sex will improve your sense of balance, sight, and touch. I’m sure you can think of some examples of each if you’ve been abstaining for a while.

You Will Become Smarter

Short-term memory will improve, and everything new you decide to try to learn, be it a skill or knowledge, will retain itself in you much faster. It’s easier to master anything. Sure, hard work is still required, and nothing will happen over night, but hard work itself will become easier. It’s not impossible any more to decide to do something and then simply execute it, as opposed to someone who is addicted to pleasure and wastes time and energy pursuing it. A balanced dopamine system will improve the level of your focus far beyond what you could have ever hoped for.

There’s More

I’m certain there are more benefits directly related to retention than I can think of to list here. Dopamine is a hormone related to social situations. If the levels become more stable, it means that one is more relaxed and confident in social situations. Continued time and energy allotted to other pursuits bring with them a self-assurance that’s not commonly seen. You will simply feel at home wherever you are. Your pleasure is not dependent so much on outside factors any more. You won’t be needy. Everything you need is already contained within yourself. It’s a wonderful feeling. Isn’t this what everyone seeks in the end? To feel at peace?

Spiritual Rocket

If you look at a picture depicting the chakra system, you’ll notice that the energy system starts at the base of the stomach; sexuality precedes everything; and sexual energy is the basis of living energy. From there, it will rise to the digestion, breathing, throat, and higher levels of energy, all the way to the crown chakra. I’m not an expert on the chakra system, but I find it fascinating how the ancient religions and philosophical systems already preserved this knowledge. Nothing new under the sun, indeed. There must be a reason that all the religious systems have evolved to favor abstinence for the true seekers — monks, priests, and such. If one indulges in all the pleasures of the flesh, the spiritual side of existence is drowned out in the noise. One needs to really focus to hear it. Meditation, fasting, and abstinence — indeed, ascetism, has always been the tool of a seeker.

One recommendation, though. Sometimes we forget ourselves. We start to focus too much on the benefits, and we start to think about our greatness a bit too much. This is an ego trap, and we don’t want to get caught in it. I’ve surely fallen into this trap many times. Humbleness is a virtue. So, if you can avoid it, don’t walk around thinking how attractive and strong you are. This will distract you from what’s truly important. Instead, direct your attention outward; observe the world around you with keener senses; and make all the powerful energy count for something. Use that energy well; it’s the most powerful force on this earth, and better still, it can connect you with the divine. You will be surging with new-found power, and the world will open to you, so decide well what path you want to traverse.
